Am I Fulfilling the Wrong Destiny?
The idea of destiny is intriguing to me.On one side, I love the idea that there is a destiny, or plan, intertwined into the workings of this world and all I need to do is show up each day in order for that destiny to be fulfilled. But on the flip side, the idea of a destiny just pisses me off – I want to be in charge of my destiny and I'm not on board with sitting by while it all just plays out in front of me. I’m showing up each and every day for an outcome that I don’t know what it is? What if I make a wrong turn, a wrong choice - is that even possible? Most mornings I listen to some guided mediations and recently I’ve been listening to the audio version of Conversations With God. There is a part in it that I have gone back to listen to several times and decided to transcribe it so I could share it with you here.It is as follows:
There is only 1 purpose for all of life, and that is for you and all that lives to experience fullest glory, everything else you say, think, or do is a tenant to that function. There is nothing else for your soul to do, and nothing else your soul wants to do. The wonder of this purpose is that it is never ending, an ending is a limitation, and God's (the Universe's) purpose is without such a boundary. Should there come a moment in which you experience yourself in your fullest glory, you will in THAT instant imagine an ever greater glory to fulfill. (<--- wow!)
The more you are, the more you can become, and the more you become, the more you can yet be. The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew.
Seek therefore not to find out who you are, seek to determine who you want to be.
Whoaaa baby, hold up. So what I’m hearing here is that my job is not to sit idly by, thinking only positive thoughts, meditating for hours each day and creating a cocoon of safety around me while my destiny unfolds?! I’m hearing that I AM CREATING MYSELF.My purpose is not to find out who I AM, but to seek to determine who I want to be. Hell YES!Let's break this down for a hot second:- "There is only 1 purpose for all of life, and that is for you and all that live to experience fullest glory." Yes please, and thank you!- "The wonder of this purpose is that it is never ending, an ending is a limitation."- "Should there come a moment in which you experience yourself in your fullest glory, you will in THAT instant imagine an ever greater glory to fulfill." So in that, there really is NO arriving. If my dream is to run a $10 million dollar business and travel to every country in the world, the INSTANT I achieve that, I will create an even greater glory to fulfill. Brings me back to this true but oh so cliche saying, "life is a journey, not a destination." There is seriously nowhere to "arrive" to.- "The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation." From THIS place, the world is my oyster and I get to create, create, and create some more. I get to fail, to fall down, to make life messy and then I get to build and grow and clean it up and that process gets to go on and on and on as long as I am in a process of creation! Now this, I like.- "Seek to determine who you want to be." I want to be loving, inspiring, open-hearted, focused, adventurous, easy-going, embracing all of me, respectful, dependable, generous, motivated, talented, expressive, and committed, and through choosing that, I am.My role is to show up each day to...
Choose actions that love sponsors
Live a purpose driven life
Know my innate gifts and share them others
Serve as an inspiration to myself and others
CHOOSE, ACT and CREATE
Every day and in every way that allows me to live in all my beautiful glory.
There is no such this as a "wrong" destiny, because destiny is a choice, a decision, forward-moving creation and action.
What is your view on destiny? What are you creating?
