I hope everyone had a fun and restful 4th of July weekend last week!I am writing to you from the road in New Mexico as I finish up an incredible trip with friends.I’ve spent the last 10 days in awe of the land around me – from the beaches of California to the mountains of Montana – my world has shifted as I bow in deep respect and gratitude for nature. While I’ve had the opportunity to travel pretty extensively through international waters, the grandeur of all that the United States has to offer is newly being revealed to me.It feels very fitting and timely that my trip to these new parts of the country fall in line with the 4th of July – a day to honor all that it means to be an American. The gift of being American is that we have choice – power to choose who we want to be, how we want to live, and what kind of impact we want to have on our community and in this world.

Below is my list of the top 10 books that are supporting, teaching and helping me choose how I want to live:

1.     May Cause Miracles - A 40-day guidebook of subtle shifts for radical change and unlimited happiness. 2.     Wheat Belly - Learn why going "wheat-free" could be the greatest thing you do for your health & life. 3.     Real Food - Uncover exactly what to eat and why!  4.     The Alchemist - A story about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts & following our dreams. 5.     Primal Blueprint - A step-by-step guide to Paleo eating & living. 6.     Way of the Peaceful Warrior - This story follows Dan as he learns to live as a peaceful warrior - it conveys pure truth & wisdom, speaking directly to the universal quest for happiness. 7.     It Starts with Food - A 30-day clear, balanced, and sustainable way to shift the way you eat & live. 8.     Breaking the Iron Triangle - Uncover the truth behind our modern day healthcare system.  "Only by shifting the focus of health care dollars from disease-management to empowering individual wellness can we turn away from a war on disease and expand ways of living well and enjoying life." 9.     Dying to Be Me - "In this truly inspirational memoir, Anita Moorjani, relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body—overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system—began shutting down. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience where she realized her inherent worth . . . and the actual cause of her disease." 10.  In Defense of Food  - "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." Pollan’s manifesto shows us how we can start making thoughtful food choices that will enhance our lives and overall wellness.

They are game changers and I hope they touch you as they have for me!

Happy Reading,Carly
